Built in 1870 as the Ottoman Post Office of Thessaloniki, Greece’s second city, the two-story Capsis Bristol Hotel was meticulously renovated in 2000 by Lena Capsis. Located in the heart of Thessaloniki’s historical district, the hotel carries the Bristol name with a sense of mystery and pride. An estimated 250 hotels carry the Bristol name worldwide, with the name said to originate from a legendary 18th Century figure, Frederick Augustus Hervey, the 4th Earl of Bristol, who traveled the world and whose title became synonymous with the best hospitality money could buy. The Capsis Bristol Hotel certainly lives up to its name.
