Lothes Mat & Vinhus must have the most central location in Haugesund – right on Smedasundet sound – and most probably the best cuisine in town.
The restaurant building dates back to 1850. When restoring the building, we focused on retaining the original style both externally and internally, allowing us to provide an authentic atmosphere, filled with local charm, good food and drink – we even have our own ghost. The building has been home to Lothes Mat & Vinhuset since 1989 and, since that time, we have maintained a very high gastronomic profile. We only make use of first-class local ingredients – fish and shellfish caught at sea off the west coast of Norway and meat from local suppliers. We also have a bar with open fireplace in our outhouse and a modern café in the backyard. During the summer, we can provide guests with a fantastic outdoors restaurant.
We serve good food and wine to connoisseurs in a building filled with atmosphere and charm! We can also arrange sailing trips with a full programme of entertainment onboard the Hardanger sloop, the “Johanne Karine” or the “Hønerau” sailing ship, “KAIA”. Both boats date back to the 20th century.
