The Utrecht region is home to numerous glorious castles and country estates that are known across the country. One of them is Sterkenburg Castle, established in the 13th century. On an island and surrounded by canals, our property is a testament to historic power and splendour, situated in the scenic countryside of the Netherlands and neighbouring meadows, orchards, wooded banks, and much more.
On our estate, you’ll not only find our castle, but beautiful outbuildings like a coach house and the gardener’s house, nestled within a bed of monumental trees. Stroll under the leafy foliage of pine, cypress, lime trees and otherwise while you drink in the gorgeous scenery around us. When wandering through our grounds, you’ll notice several examples of wonderful wildlife, too, such as storks, free-roaming chickens and roe deer that traverse through our orchards at twilight.
Between the fresh and locally-sourced meals we serve, to our many rooms named after different birds (and a turtle), nature has influenced every part of our hotel. Book a room and bring your four-legged friend – they’re more than welcome with advance notice.
