On our continued quest to discover unique, historical treasures, Historic Hotels of Europe welcomes 11 new member properties, spanning across the continent. Whether you’re staying within the ancient walls of a castle ruin or spending the night as lord or lady in a centuries-old manor house, each luxurious hotel boasts fascinating heritage and unforgettable experiences.
First on the list is the German-based Dornröschenschloss Sababurg - a 14th century castle hotel known as the home of Sleeping Beauty, complete with enchanting rose garden and wonderful palace ruins. Speaking of baroque castles in Germany, Hotel Schloß Hertefeld joins the Historic Hotels of Europe - boasting an incredible restoration of the original tower and the dream-like ‘Heaven’s Room’, where guests can open a rooftop to reveal the starry night sky. Our fresh German boltholes don’t end there. Set your compass to UNESCO World Heritage site Middle Rhine Valley and you’ll find Romantik Hotel Schloss Rheinfels tucked away among the magical countryside.
The latest addition to our Greek portfolio, Serenissima Boutique Hotel is a serene, contemporary, and culinary retreat in the Old City of Chania. In idyllic Montenegro, the charming 4-star Hotel Cattaro acts as a gateway to old and new Kotor, encompassing three old-world buildings in its architectural glory. Another water-based retreat, the 14th century Toftaholm Manor hotel nudges the stunning Lake Vidöstern in the blissful Småland countryside.
Our newest Irish members are as equally impeccable: the seaside town of Dungarvan plays host to restaurant and townhouse The Tannery, which has established itself as a cosy neighborhood spot for locals and guests alike since 1997. A heritage building also forms the foundations of Belleek Castle hotel, housed in a medieval masterpiece within 1,000 acres of woodland n on the banks of River Moy. In Co. Monaghan, Hilton Park has provided the finest hospitality and dining to its guests since it first opened its doors as a family home in 1734.
Finally, we head to the soul-stirring landscapes of Italy, where our newest member property L´Unicorno treats guests to an authentic farmhouse retreat in the middle of an ancient hamlet. Head toward the Alps for clear skies, the famous Dolomites and your countryside home-away-from-home, Alte Goste. Dating back to 1142, the family-run hotel preserves its historic charm while providing a luxurious escape for travellers.
