On 8th July, 1600, a "Gastgeb" (inn) was mentioned in official documents for the first time at the site of today’s Hotel Stefanie. The “White Rose”, which later became the Hotel Stefanie, soon became one of the best lodging establishments in the imperial city of Vienna and is, however, the only one to have been mentioned in the building registers continuously for 400 years.
In 1888 the great-grandfather of the current owner, acquired the hotel and renamed it the “Hotel Stefanie” in memory of the marriage of Crown Prince Rudolf with Princess Stéphanie of Belgium. At the time, the building was among the largest hotels in Vienna.
The Schick family – by now in its 4th generation - has set itself the task of honoring tradition, preserving the charm of bygone days, and providing guests with the comfort and technology of today through a constant investment program.
Thanks to the Schick family's passion for collecting, you can admire exceptional antiques such as silver, porcelain, glassware, clocks and furniture in the lobby, in the restaurant, in the bar, in the corridors and sometimes even in the rooms, as well as some items from the estate of Crown Princess Stephanie.
In addition to the special atmosphere of the hotel and its elegant furnishings, the Hotel Stefanie attaches great importance to the individual addressing of its guests by employees. They take care of special requests with heart and soul and, with Viennese “Schmäh”, tell stories about Vienna and the hotel.
All this makes the Hotel Stefanie unique in Vienna, and this is exactly what the guests feel and appreciate a lot. During your holiday in Vienna at Hotel Stefanie, your stay in the hotel will also be an adventure, which is proven by a multitude of positive reviews.
