Building: XV century
The Locanda dei Mai Intees is located in a strategic position, near Lake Maggiore, Como and Milan as well as Malpensa International Airport.
Locanda dei Mai Intees has been magnificently renovated. Each of its 12 rooms and suites is furnished in a unique style, all harmoniously inserted in the building enriched by frescoes, antique furniture and modern technology.
The Locanda dei Mai Intees consists of a central building around which the tower, the courtyard with the ancient well and a beautiful veranda. This charming four star hotel has a dining room with original 15th century frescoes which, thanks to careful restoration work, have been brought back to light as well as its 16th century fireplace. The various parts that make it up and that over time have merged together, represent a splendid example of a medieval village: the whole life of the village revolved around the structure that housed the pharmacy, the post office, the prisons...
Originally the buildings of the Locanda were a small medieval village of the 15th century which included the small square, the post office, the pharmacy and a grain store. The buildings were brought together by the then pharmacist of the village, ancestor of the current owners, transforming them into a single country residence. Mrs. Carlotta Pomati and her son Paolo Crosta are the current owners, descendants of the fifth generation, and have skilfully converted it into a charming four-star hotel equipped with all comforts.
The original charm has remained unchanged in its various parts, including the tower, the courtyard with the ancient well and the veranda. Admirable are the original 15th century frescoes in the dining room and the 16th century fireplace, which have been brought back to life thanks to careful restoration work.
The Locanda's restaurant was founded in 1989 and its cuisine bears the clear imprint of the famous starred chef Guatiero Marchesi, a dear family friend, who passed on his art to his young son, Paolo, who grew up in the kitchen of his restaurant. The kitchens of the inn are also located in a historically important part, on the lower floor of the building where prisons were developed in the Middle Ages.
The restaurant soon acquired great fame and became a meeting point for an elite and international clientele. It offers typical regional dishes accompanied by an important selection of wines. Its small but intimate bar, completely furnished in wood, is located in the restaurant that once housed the Post Office.
In the Sala degli Affreschi there was originally the village pharmacy. On two of its walls a large classical frieze in two colours, grey and terracotta, was found, while on the back wall a huge sixteenth century fireplace stands out. The room offers a maximum capacity of forty people.
The Sala delle Armi, on the other hand, is used for business and private dinners, an ancient and elegant setting that can accommodate up to twelve people.
Another room is dedicated to business meetings: its discreet and welcoming atmosphere makes it the ideal place for high-level meetings.
